Horace W. “Bud” Bernton, MD (Emeritus Board Member)

Dr. Horace Bernton has had a distinguished career in medicine and an equally distinguished retirement “career.” A 1947 graduate of Harvard University and a 1952 graduate of the Georgetown University School of Medicine, Dr. Bernton had a private internal medicine practice in Montgomery County for 30 years. During those years, he was active in organized medicine, serving as President of the Montgomery County Medical Society and chairing a number of committees. He was a founding member of the Primary Care Coalition and served as chair or its Board or Directors for three terms, from 1999 until 2003. He has also championed the Leadership Montgomery program, which awarded Dr. Bernton its Outstanding Leader Award in 1999.
