| When families in our community need a helping hand, Xenia Monterosa is there--as a Client Services Specialist in the Care for Kids program with heart, energy, and an unstoppable drive. “I see myself on the front lines, helping families at their most vulnerable moments,” she says. “It’s something I feel deeply about and have built my career around.” Care for Kids is a health care program that provides access to health care services for uninsured children in Montgomery County. |
Xenia’s journey to PCC wasn’t a straight line. Back in 2013, she interviewed for a position but decided to wait—she was expecting her second child and knew the timing wasn’t right. True to her word, she came back four years later, ready to make an impact. In 2018, she joined Care for Kids and brought with her a wealth of experience in program enrollment and administration. But this role was different: “It’s not just paperwork. It’s problem-solving, connecting with families remotely, and finding solutions that truly make a difference.”
At home, Xenia juggles life with three teenagers—“You can imagine the chaos!” she laughs—but says family love keeps her grounded. Baking has become their shared passion, a comforting way for her to slow down and connect with her kids. Her unwavering optimism and determination trace back to her mother, a Chilean trailblazer who taught her to never give up. “Even when things seem gloomy, there’s always a brighter day ahead,” Xenia reflects. It’s the same message she shares with the families she supports: stay strong, because help is here—and she’ll do everything possible to guide them toward standing on their own.
